John Damm Scheuer
During may Master’s education I studied project management of organizational change processes at CBS. This was followed by several years of employment as a development consultant in the Copenhagen Hospital Corporation. On that background I developed an interest in what makes implementation processes “work”. Many times – even though knowledge existed, or the suggested new organizing models and concepts seemed relevant, they turned out to be difficult to implement. This led to a PhD study focusing on how to understand and theorize implementation processes related to the implementation of “Clinical Pathways” in hospitals as “translation processes”. Later I went on to a research position at Roskilde University where I have done research in organizational change processes of different kinds (policy-implementation, institutional change, service-innovation, approaches to design, IT-development, introduction of stakeholder management and CSR concepts). Over the years I have studied different research streams with relevance to implementation such as policy-implementation, implementation science, organizational translation studies and design approaches to development, as well as implementation and change in organizations. Some of my key contributions have been within organizational translation studies (Scheuer 2021, 2023) that may supplement implementation science with a process view on implementation processes.
